The first indications of harmful emissions in the indoor air are that the air has an unpleasant smell or is heavy to breathe. Physical symptoms can be headache, coughing, asthma, difficulty breathing, respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, allergic rhinitis, eczema, irritated mucous membranes etc.
We recommend that a professional damage inspector conducts a thorough investigation. If this reveals that the property has an elevated level of emissions, cTrap is a well-proven solution with good results in most environments.
To simply increase the ventilation certainly reduces the concentrations of air pollutants, but does not stop the contamination from continuing to spread to the indoor air. cTrap locks in emissions at the source. As a result, they never actually reach the indoor air.
cTrap is an emissions barrier but not a moisture barrier. This means that the cloth binds the emissions at the same time as it allows moisture to pass through unhindered (Z=200 s/m). The cloth can be applied to any surface without causing moisture or mould problems. It is furthermore completely free from chemicals and functions without consuming energy.
No. cTrap should be used after moisture damage has been rectified. If there is visible mould, it should be removed. The surface may then be covered with cTrap to stop any possible remaining mould residue, or other moisture driven emissions, from reaching the indoor air.
No. The cloth can also be attached on walls and ceilings with the same excellent results. Where cTrap is installed depends on the source of the emissions. Contact a professional damage investigator for help in determining this.
No. cTrap contains no chemicals and no chemicals are used in the installations. The fact that cTrap is a chemical-free product is important to us. Chemicals have to be manufactured and stored, transported and stored again, to later be used in a building. Furthermore, when the building is eventually demolished, there is a risk that the chemicals leach out of contaminated materials and end up in the ground water. All these steps involve risks to man and the environment and can be avoided by using cTrap.
cTrap cloth allows moisture to pass through but should not be trapped in moisture. If you install cTrap on a moisture-releasing concrete floor you must first lay a suitable moisture barrier (for example a 0.2mm polythene cloth or another suitable barrier). Then you lay the cTrap and finally a surface finish of your choice.
cTrap can eliminate or reduce the health problems that arise from being in a house that is “sick”, for example after moisture damage. Indoor air becoming healthier with cTrap is noticed almost immediately (minutes or hours) after installation. We get many grateful comments that complaints such as headache, cough, asthma, skin-irritation etc. have disappeared or been significantly reduced after the installation of cTrap.
At present it is only possible to order directly from us.
